We have the bees way out in the orchard so I think it's far enough away from all our outside activities. These bees seem exceptionally calm, hope they stay that way.

Mama Pea....same here with the long winters. Some beekeepers hives made it this year here too. All of ours made it this year no doubt due to the very mild winter weather. That's what I did last year. I ordered the bees and learned the rest afterward lol.

Mary Ann....years ago a beekeeper I knew, put his hives on our land. What a great garden we had those years (oh the pumpkins!) We got the benefit of the bees and some honey. It was a good deal!

Gorges Smythe....my husband isn't too impressed if we have to buy bees every year. Very few hives around our area make it through the winter, whether it is colony collapse or just weak bees that can't make the winter, we aren't sure. If we get any amount of honey this year, we may end up doing the bees every other year. ....ahhh, I did miss the chance to say there was a little crown LOL!dr momihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15665259531466170062noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7754386920471876383.post-61333262416141359052012-04-13T06:42:14.977-05:002012-04-13T06:42:14.977-05:00Very interesting to know .
