My Favorite Flower

False Indigo

Lasts long as a cut flower.
It has beautiful purple pods in the fall
for dried arrangements.
It's foliage makes a beautiful "green"
with any other flower arrangement.
....and last but not least,
it grows in zone 3!

I love False Indigo too, it is a perennial favorite. Did you know it can now be found in white? Happy gardening, Julie.

Tex....it's so easy to grow from seed -- loves full sun -- and it's perennial.

Julie....I did NOT know it came in white now too. I will be hunting it down :-)

Jill....thanks!

it is pretty ,I sometimes wished I could name all the flowers but have a hard enough time remembering names of everyone---lol but as I was gazing at my yard I noticed what was maybe a weed sticking its head out from under my deck, and found a amazing looking tiny flowers attached to it,hard to explain but the sort that a decorator or painter might choose to use

It's really beautiful, like so many other flowers I had it at my last house and for some reason it's not one I have here...Thank-you for the reminder that it's one I should add.

GOR-geous flower. I am not familiar with it but think I'll put it on my list to get someday.

judy....I think lots of weeds are gorgeous :-)

JP....it looks like a 4 or 5 foot bush all summer...always looks pretty.

Kim....I actually grew the plants I have here at our new house from seed saved from plants at the old house. It took 4 years for them to get full size...but worth it!

Ronda....thanks!

Simple Scaife Family....I think it's practicality and the fact that I really can't kill it here in my zone 3/4 is why I like it so much.

Candy C. ....bet it wouldn't grow by you ..? I'm not sure how high of a growing zone it can tolerate.

Mama Pea....it will grow by you! I don't know about you, but I'm really into a perennial that gives me great cut flowers every year -- and I don't have to plant them :-) (as in no work!)
