NOW I'm Complaining

Remember this picture from Sunday??
On Monday the snow melted off the roof quite a bit.  The salt got washed away.  Enter 6:00 in the evening -- everything froze.  Oh shoot, my Kindle is in the car yet. (Do you know where this is going?) Yup, I ran out the door hit the ice and both feet went out from under me.  I came down hard on the edge of the first step with my bum, tried to catch myself with my left arm -- how it got behind me and wrenched I don't know.  Man it happened so fast.  OK, I'm old!!  ....do I ache today!  Nothing is broken, but I expect a real nice black and blue spot on my butt (it's already yellow), and my shoulder makes for putting a coat on very hard.

When we built the house we opted for no rain gutters because our roof had such long overhangs.  We never thought about melting snow and the back porch.  This is about the 3rd fall (all different people) on the icy back porch.  Before we end up with a broken bone or concussion, something must be done.  Rick agreed.  Whether it's gutters or a porch roof, there will be some kind of construction this summer.

Ouch ouch ouch! You poor thing. Sounds awful. I agree - you need to fix that up before someone has a really bad accident. Rest & relax - you are going to be mighty sore after that tumble.

Ouch! Owww-ie! (Insert several bad words that may or may not have been uttered around 6 last night on the porch steps.) Oh, ya, please do remedy that dangerous situation before something serious happens. Doggone, now until your unsightly bruise goes away and your arm feels better, you're going to have to take some time off from your part-time job pole dancing at the local bar in that sexy, skimpy outfit. ;o]

P.S. Really glad you weren't hurt more seriously. Hugs.

Rae....thanks. Oh BTW, I shared your list of Best Feelings on my Facebook page -- people are lovin' it.

Mama Pea....ya, the pole dancing is on hold for now LOL!

Ouch - sorry to hear about your fall. I know what you mean about getting old...as round as I am, I don't "bounce" anymore...I hate to fall down! Blessings for speedy recovery...from Ringle.

Ouch! I'm glad you didn't break any bones! The good thing about gutter, they can match is so well that it nearly looks like it belongs there without sticking out like a sore thumb.

Bless your heart! Rest today.

Dang girl, it hurt me just reading about your fall!! Take care of yourself and soak in a tub with some Epsom salts, helps take away the ache and brusing.
They make a porch paint with texture and/or sand in it that might help even with a roof or gutters!

Sorry you're hurting. Take it easy and take care. In fact, milk this for all it's worth so ya get a little TLC from everyone!

Good gracious! Just reading that makes me want to moan! So sorry that happened!

Did you get your Kindle so that you can rest and read?

I sure am glad the Lord softened your fall. Please be careful!

Dicky Bird....I had plenty of 'cushion' myself, but it didn't help much :-)

TexWisGirl....a broken arm was awful close. I had a broken rib once (fell off a horse) that was not fun.

Marissa....Rick (my husband) is talking gutter, sounds like that's the way we'll be going.

Jill....it's my excuse for the day anyway :-)

Candy C. ....I've been using arnica gel, but a bath with Epsom salt sounds good. I'll have to look into the porch paint.

Cindy....You better believe I'm milking it :-) "Hon, can you get up and get me some more coffee so I don't have to get up???" ....oh, I'm milking it :-)

Gutters are a pain. I would opt with a porch cover. But then again, gutters help you collect rain water and if you were wanting to collect rain for your garden, this would be a reason to do it

labbie 1.... :-), I love my Kindle. You bet it was retrieved.

Clint....it could have been so much worse. Someone's lookin' out for me!

Roxey....I agree gutters are a pain. I'm doing my hardest to get him to go the other way!

Oh, no--you have me cringing over here. Hope you recover without any lasting issues. Not good. We also had some issues with our roof--long overhangs, but melting snow and re-freezing temps make for slippery walkways. We put up gutters rather quickly after we built the house, too, but only where we have walking paths. The back side of the house is gutter-free.

Oh no! I fell hard last year and wasn't okay completely for at least 3 months. I am so afraid of falling now. I hope you are okay.

Deb....if we do the gutters it will only be on one side of the house. ....and I demanded a rain barrel :-)

rumpydog....I'm feeling much better today. Arnica is amazing!

Michaele....My shoulder is much better today...I couldn't believe it! I really think I will never be without arnica in the house.

rugosarosefarm....too funny -- my husband and I fight over the ice packs..."who needs it more". I hate peas, he loves them. He gets the "pea" ice pack LOL!

Melodie....I have survived and doing better. Thanks! :-)

Lisa....thanks for the well wishes!
