Need a Funny Caption

What's your caption for this week?

Last week:

"I thought I was riding in the sleigh..."

Last week's caption by Dicky Bird over at:
Dicky's Bird Nest

:-).....reminded me of  the
grinch's "dog-reindeer".

You must go over and check out the post over at
Dicky's Bird Nest.  Deer hunting at it's best :-)

I also liked (and appreciated)

"I do believe, I do believe!"
given by Candy C over at
Lazy J Bar C Farm

This was a picture of Bailey, a stray that we adopted.
She was a great family dog.
She just "put up with me" with that pitiful look while I took her pic.

Sunday in Pictures

........on Monday.  I had major problems with the internet on Sunday, I could not get on blogger.  Seems the powers that be have it fixed this morning.

Had a little chaos Sunday night.
Tried to take a Christmas Card picture of all the grandkids.
Check out Zoe ripping that santa hat off her head.

They all had bells to ring.
I think Gracie is not happy with her bell.
Silly adults......what makes you think they are all going to look at the camera???

Before the "picture",  they all got
to put the ornaments on the
"kids" tree up in the loft.

....and place the kids manger scene out.
Gracie places the angel.

So....Mary and Joseph and Jesus,
and 100 animals worshipping with the kings and shepherds.
I just said to Rick....I think we need a stable to "lift"
the Holy Family above the worshippers :-)
The kids had a blast putting it out.
What.....you didn't know there was an anteater at the stable?

Knowing we would never get a picture with them all looking at the camera, I learned
how to do my first collage on Picasa 3.
Left to right on the top:  Zoe, Ryan, Brady, Remington
Logan, Grace, Brayden, and Riley.

I've told you all I have 10 grandchildren.......
8 on the ground, 2 cooking.

Friday

Decking the Halls

Everyone (I'm pretty sure it's everyone :-) in Northeast Wisconsin is putting up their outdoor Christmas lights today.  It's 53 degrees outside!!!  Probably the last 50's we'll see.  Tomorrow it is suppose to be 45 degrees, and raining all day.  After that -- in the 30's.  Nothing is worse (ok I'm exaggerating) than trying to put up lights when it gets that cold.

A direct quote...."It's like putting lights on a
cactus it's SO picky!"   ....Rick (my husband)
I do believe that bush
is getting moved in the spring!

Now all we need is a new cover of snow!

Happy Thanksgiving

Right after saying thanks to God.

This is one of my favorite pictures.  A few years old now.
My dad at the head of the table.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Last week's caption by Mama Pea over at
A Home Grown Journal
LOL -- good one Mama Pea :-)

"I'm just DOG tired I've been playing so hard!"

from Anna

"What...you said nap time"

Can You Say Venison Tenderloin??

Whitetail deer season is all this week in Wisconsin.
My son Tyler bagged an 8 pointer on our hunting land.
Tyler is a high school biology teacher -- generally clean shaven :-)
(My husband took the picture -- I thought "he done good")

My Apron Reveal

I decided to use some fabric I picked up at Goodwill about 3 years ago.
I found out why there was "over 10 yards" of material.  At the fold of the material it
was all faded.  I'm sure a store found it at the end of a bolt and donated it.
Of course I didn't see it until after everything was cut out and some of the hems
were already done.  Good thing I'm a "faded jeans" kinda girl.
I just went with the flow.

Remember I don't sew.  I didn't even have any straight pins!
...and I didn't buy any either :-)

I did buy two different EASY  (r-i-g-h-t) patterns.
I went with the striped apron from the pattern on the left.

I had to dig my iron out of the depths of a cupboard because
I used hemming tape for all my edges.
....no I didn't use any duct tape....I know you were all
looking forward to seeing that LOL!

I knew there was no way those tie seams would stay together while
I turned them inside out with just hemming tape.
I had to go on to another plan.
I used grommets and cotton rope for the neck and waist ties.
Oh....and all 4 grommets I put in backwards!!  I planned it that way....right.

And For The Drumroll Please!!!!

This is my daughter Kristy laughing her head off
when we figured out where the tassels ended up!  LOL
THIS WAS NOT PLANNED!!!
....and this is not where the tassels ended up on me LOL!
And there is no way I could have doubled the waist ties and
tied them in the front!
She tried it on at our cookie decorating party.
You should have heard all us girls cackle!!!

Now....quit looking at the tassles and notice the cute
blue checked pockets. (Had no idea I could do that.)
Oh....and notice the faded "fold" right down the middle :-).
(This was before I had the bottom hem done.)

Will I wear it for Thanksgiving??
Aahhh....not until those tassels get fixed !!

I had fun making it!
Hop on over to Susan's to see all the others!

My oldest Grandson Goliath

Well, no, his name is Ryan.
He's in kindergarten.
See that red spot on his nose??
There was some (big) rock throwing going on by another kid on the playground! Yikes!

Evergreens and dogwood have joined the
winterberries in their winter pot.
Looking Christmassy around here.

When the barberry looses it's leaves, it's pretty much all over.
Winter here we come.

Pile-up on Uncle Matt!

Somebody wronged Gracie.

Touchdown!!
"Brayden what number is on your shirt?"
"One -Two"
"Whose number is that?"
"Mine!"

Saturday

Soon To Be Retired

Everybody, I'd like you to meet Bob (it's his birthday today) and his Leader Dog Sonnet.  Bob has been slowly losing his sight.  He has had Sonnet for about 8 years now.  She is 9 1/2 yrs old now, and she quit leading.  It happens that somewhere around 8, 9, 10 years old, the Leader Dogs just decide they don't want to do this anymore.  It's like she isn't paying attention anymore.

So, Bob is getting a new Leader Dog, and I am adopting Sonnet so she can just live the rest of her life as a dog that can run free.  Sonnet was adopted from a humane society and then trained by Leader Dogs For The Blind as a dog guide.  She is German Shepherd and Husky as far as anyone can tell.  She knows me quite well because I watched her two times for an extended amount of time.  Once while Bob had his knee operated on and once when he had a slight heart attack.

In 2 weeks my Future Leader Dog For The Blind, Butsch, is going back to Leader Dogs For The Blind for his formal training.  Anytime after that, Sonnet will be coming to live with us.  I won't be raising any more puppies until Sonnet passes.  Two dogs in the house is all I can handle -- especially with all the "grandchildren traffic" we have here :-)

Sonnet has been "eating good" the past few years.  (Probably a few too many dog biscuits)  I will try to get a bit of that weight off, so her old joints don't suffer too much.

Sonnet
Soon to be enjoying the retired life.
(She looks kinda mean in this pic...no...she's a gentle heart.)
I'm sure there will be lots more pictures of her coming down the road.

Baby Fences

I've been doing a lot of babysitting lately.
Cuts into my blogging. :-) (I'm not complaining)
Decided to combine it today.

Today is the linky party "Friday's Fences"

The way I see it....fences can keep things in.
Or.....keep things out :-)

A Dog Blog....and more

I insisted my sister Roxey start a blog.  It took a lot of prompting but she finally did it.  (I believe a daughter and daughter-in-law were prompting too.)  She's got lots to say, and she'll make you laugh saying it!  Her post today I thought was great, especially since it's Thanksgiving time.  She writes a lot about her walks with her dogs, but, how she puts her faith thoughts down in writing....well, it always gets me thinking about where I am in my faith walk.

Hop on over and read her post about "Blessings" today.  And if you follow her you'll get to know her dogs.  "Turk's Forecast" is always hilarious...you'll love it.

Need a Funny Caption

What's your caption for this week?

From last week:

"Hey look, I'm Mr. Potato Head!"

This week's caption coined by Grumpy Grateful Mom.
Thanks SO MUCH for playing Need a Funny Caption!

I'm going to try things just a little different everyone.  I'm going to try to mention all the captions.
If it gets to where it's too much for me I'll have to go back to one,
but I think you all need to laugh as much as I did all week :-)

.... from TexWisGirl at The Run*A* Round Ranch Report :
"My sister says she really wants a Mr. Potato Head.  I think this could work..."

.... from Judy at My Freezer is Full :
"Head up...chest out...posture...posture..."

.... from Candy C  at Lazy J Bar C Farm :
"I dug these up all by myself."

.... from Dicky Bird at Dicky Bird's Nest :
"No, I'm not a tatter tot..."
(I laughed right out loud Jackie)

...from my sister Roxey at Roxey Lucey :
That's one big "tato".

.....from my Mom on facebook:
"One potato, two potato, three potato, four."

....from Alice on facebook:
"If I can balance this on my head I should be able to carry the rest."

This is a picture of my Grandson Brayden last summer.
(on one of the hottest days ever!)
Brayden's nickname is "Tato".  His aunt kept calling him
Brado Potato.  His little cousins could only say "Tato", and it stuck.
Call him "Tato" today (he's three now) and he'll answer.
I do believe this picture will be at his wedding :-)

An exact quote....."You found an iron?
I didn't know we owned an iron."  .......Rick (my husband)

The iron was needed for my apron.
I had to dig for it, but I found it.

A wolf?.....No, just a melted Butsch track.  (A quarter would fit in the bottom pad print)
We had 5 inches of snow on Wednesday.  Still a lot on the ground.

Today we (Butsch and I) had "puppy class".  Once a month all the area Leader Dog
for the Blind raisers get together for some obedience training etc.  We were up in Door county
in Sturgeon Bay.  (Door county is the peninsula between Green Bay ...the water, and Lake
Michigan.)  We stopped in at the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department.  The puppies get to
experience the firefighters all dressed up in their gear.  I wasn't sure what Butsch would do.
Turns out he loved him :-)  He was trying to kiss the fireman, but the fireman doesn't look too sure!!

Youngest Grandson Brady is laughing and cooing up a storm.
He's almost 3 months old.
Already a Packer fan :-)

A Booker Story

Booker is the first Future Leader Dog For the Blind that I raised.  He is a yellow lab.  He's been a working dog (leading a blind person) for about 7 or 8 years already.  When we turn our puppies in after raising them for the year, Leader Dogs For the Blind asks us for a "story" about our puppy that they can share with the blind partner they get hooked up with.  Here is "Booker's Story".

Booker 3 months old.

When Booker was about 5 months old, I met my sister Roxey, at a Red Lobster for lunch, of course Booker came with.  He was so good about going under the table and falling fast asleep.  The hostess seated us, and Booker was all settled in and quiet by the time the waitress came.  She never knew he was there.  The waitress took our order and Roxey and I were chatting away.  Our salads finally came and the waitress asked if we wanted fresh ground pepper on them.  "Yes, thank-you".

What happened next left all of us with looks on our faces that you wish you could have taken a picture of.  With no warning, our table "exploded"!  It raised off the floor about 8 inches.  Booker who had been asleep must have gotten pepper in his nose and shot straight up!  He sneezed and sneezed and sneezed.  The poor waitress was beyond confused.  I bet she still tells this story as "the weirdest thing that ever happened to me waitressing".  We saved the salads....Roxey and I were "holding" things on the table.   After much laughing (and feeling sorry for Booker), we settled into a wonderful lunch.  Booker was just fine.  Roxey and I were fine.  Not sure about the waitress :-).

Booker 8 months old.
