I hate it when this happens. I'm in bed, almost asleep. Suddenly, I'm wide awake with the thought; "I forgot to close the ducks in." I now have two choices.
1) Snuggle back down into those warm covers and try to convince myself there is no way the fox will show up tonight. Or,
2) Get up, go out into that cold air and close the door. That cold air is guaranteed to keep me awake for at least another hour.

Love the photo.
Yep. It's a mom thing.
I have the same thought about the chickens every night. Even though I know I shut the door. Send hubby to check :D
Oh yeah,do I know that feeling,lol!
I know what you did. I just hope you didn't lie there awake for a whole hour before you did it!
So you did what any fair-minded homesteader would do. You simply rousted yourself out of bed and got your ducks all properly dressed to go to town!
Tex & Nancy...I wouldn't be able to sleep anyway -- just got up and did it.
Michaele... it IS a Mom thing LOL!
rugosarosefarm...that would be the day that my husband would go check on them! I could dream I suppose :-)
Melodie...I knew other homesteading "moms" would know exactly what to do too :-)
Mama Pea...too funny! I didn't lay there but about 3 minutes...I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep at all if I didn't!
Ronda...it was kind of a short post...I had a little spare time to play with the pic :-)
Yep, we all know just what you did (the same thing we would do)! LOL!!
Love the picture, and I would have done the exact same thing!!
Hope you're enjoying your weekend!!
I hate nights like that...Sometimes when I am super cranky I wake hubby and make him do it since it is his job to close them in at night.
Glad your little quackers are all good and safe.
Blessings Kelsie
PS: I promise I will not really eat Bravo, I love my silly Chicken Boy to much for that. lol
You're a good momi!
I hear ya...I've done the same thing with my newly acquired chickens. AND! since we're still gardening~ I've had to go out and throw the plastic back over the hoop frames after forgetting to cover...it does take a long time to fall back to sleep.
Live and learn~ Pat
It is a mom thing...sandie
Cute!!!!!!!!! Oh my. I was telling my husband I wanted a hat that would fit a duck. I didn't think about doing it with photo magic.
